Rob Gordon would have been so proud. But by 2018 something had to give.
The one question everyone kept asking was, “When are you doing this again?”
That place was just down the road at the Painted Tree Marketplace in Highland Village, Texas. It was the perfect spot, and within a month I had established my first little shop, nestled inside the upscale boutique chain — which allowed me to tip-toe in to this new adventure. I initially started solely with the inventory left over from the garage sale. I just needed it all out of our house.
Upon opening the shop I had people showing up regularly awaiting new albums, requesting more genres, and encouraging me to keep going. I had the support of my family, helping me with every portion of the little growing business. And I was making new friends left and right that shared my enthusiasm for music and vinyl.
The same hook that grabbed me when I was 13 was still in deep. Only now I saw a way to dive so much further. There was no turning back.
Over the course of the next several years NTX weathered the pandemic, establishing 2 more local shops, creating an online web store, Youtube channel, record label (the DFW Legacy Series), and an incredible community of vinyl collectors (Now Spinning).
In October of 2024 we chose to close down our local booths and focus our efforts solely online — selling primarily on our website and Whatnot channel.
There was never any business plan, investor, or blueprint to copy. Just an extreme passion for music and the vinyl format.
We are as excited as ever to see where this journey takes us next.
